Kongsberg Maritime ASA (OSE: KMAR) today announced its results for the third quarter 2026. Strong newbuild demand contributed to increased order intake and a record order backlog.

Order intake reached MNOK 8,323 in the quarter, corresponding to a book-to-bill ratio of 1.25. The order backlog increased to MNOK 29,753, providing a solid foundation. Revenues were MNOK 6,639, which is 5% higher than Q3 last year. Deliveries to newbuilds grew 16% while the aftermarket declined by 5%.

EBITDA came in at MNOK 1,041, corresponding to an EBITDA margin of 15.7%. EBITDA was impacted by MNOK 72 in restructuring costs related to the ongoing competitiveness improvement program.

“The third-quarter result demonstrate our continued ability to scale profitability on newbuild deliveries. Solid order intake across several vessel segments further increased our record order backlog and supports our growth ambitions for the coming years,” says Lisa Edvardsen Haugan, President and CEO of Kongsberg Maritime.

KEY FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS Q3

  • Order backlog: MNOK 29,753
  •  Revenues: MNOK 6,639
  • EBITDA: MNOK 1,041
  • EBITDA margin: 15.7%
  • Order intake: MNOK 8,323 Book-to-bill: 1.25

“2026 is shaping up to be a very strong year for shipyard orders for new vessels. Our own contracting activity confirms that we are benefiting from this,” Edvardsen Haugan says.

STRONG NEWBUILD MARKETS
Newbuild order intake remained strong with a book-to-bill of 1.39 in the third quarter. Offshore Energy, Naval & Government and Cargo are representing the largest vessel segments year-to-date. The broad distribution of orders across segments provides balanced exposure to several long-term growth drivers.

The continued order momentum lifted the total backlog by MNOK 1,347 from the second quarter, strengthening visibility for future deliveries.

“Our broad portfolio and deep domain knowledge allow us to support customers across a wide range of vessel segments. Customers are increasingly looking for integrated solutions that improve efficiency, reliability and vessel performance. This, combined with our ability to support customers’ operations throughout the lifecycle of their vessels, is a key reason why we continue to win significant newbuild contracts,” says Edvardsen Haugan.

BERG PROPULSION
Shortly after the end of the quarter, on 1 October, Kongsberg Maritime completed the acquisition of the Swedish company Berg Propulsion AB, strengthening its portfolio of propulsion and electrical systems.

Berg Propulsion complements Kongsberg Maritime’s existing offering and expands the company’s ability to provide integrated propulsion solutions to a broader range of customers and vessel segments. The business will be consolidated into the Propulsion & Handling division.
