Nord Gas Solutions has once again been selected by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to supply the cargo handling and fuel gas supply system for two additional Very Large Ethane Gas Carriers (VLECs) being built at the SHI yard in South Korea. The vessels are being built for an established joint venture based in Asia.

This latest order follows the previously announced contract for five VLECs and further strengthens the long-standing cooperation between Nord Gas Solutions, SHI, and MOL. The repeat selection underscores the proven performance and reliability of Nord Gas Solutions' cargo handling and fuel gas supply technology for ethane carriers.

Nord Gas Solutions' scope of supply includes the engineering of the cargo handling and fuel gas supply system process plant, as well as the associated sub-systems. The delivery also comprises all required equipment, instrumentation, interface materials between the cargo tanks and hull, and the cargo control system. Nord Gas Solutions specialists will support the yard throughout construction and commissioning of the vessels.

STRONG VOTE OF CONFIDENCE
"The award of these additional vessels is a strong vote of confidence from SHI. We are grateful for the continued trust in our solutions and look forward to supporting the successful delivery of these vessels. Repeat orders such as this demonstrate the value of our technology, expertise, and long-term partnerships," said Harald Øverland, Sale Manager, Nord Gas Solutions.

The Nord Gas Solutions equipment is scheduled for delivery commencing Q2 2027

Nord Gas Solutions is the new corporate brand formed following the acquisition of Wärtsilä Gas Solutions by Mutares SE & Co. effective from June 1, 2026.
